Transcutaneous nerve stimulation is the application of q pulsed rectangular wave current via surface electrodes on a patient’s skin. This current is often generated by small battery’s output in such a way that it will have a stimulatory effect.
Frequency- can be as low as 2Hz or as high as 600Hz.a frequency of 150 Hz is commonly used.
Intensity- can be varied from 0 to 60 Millsaps on many units. The therapist or the patient can control the intensity and tingling sensation should be felt.
